BTC Spectre Mk2-NB
For NGRS-V2 Gearbox

Highly configurable AEG controller which provides hundreds of possible select‑fire combinations. All three selector positions can also be individually programmed to have a different burst count, RoF, precocking, etc, for each position.

Utilizes four powerful MOSFETs and triple surge suppression diodes to handle the most demanding builds, and protected with low-voltage, overcurrent, and temperature monitoring.

The Mk2-NB variants do not include Bluetooth.

Advanced Technology
  • Fully computerized with hi-speed PIC microprocessor for fast signal processing of high fire rates.
  • Overcurrent, low-voltage, and temperature monitoring protects the controller and connected battery.
  • Massive TVS diodes suppress up to 9000W of inductive motor spikes which typically destroys other FETs.
  • Uses 16-AWG mPPE wires for thinner size and superior abrasion resistance compared to typical PVC wires.
  • Ultra-low battery drain during sleep mode preserves battery charge if left connected during storage.

MOSFET Trigger
  • Solid-state motor switching eliminates the damaging electrical arcs associated with contact switches.
  • Lower resistance compared to the default contact switch, thereby increasing electrical efficiency.
  • Driven by dual N-MOSFETs with a combined rating of 540A startup current and 0.7mΩ resistance.

Motor Active Braking
  • Reduces the motor spin-down time during cutoff to help minimize over-traveling of the piston.
  • Prevents double-firing issues that may occur due to excessive over-travel on high speed setups.
  • Smart thermal throttling helps control heat buildup during quick sustained bursts of fire.
  • Driven by dual N-MOSFETs with a combined rating of 540A startup current and 0.7mΩ resistance.

LiPo / LiFePO4 Protection
  • Monitors LiPo and LiFePO4 batteries to cut off power when nearing the overdischarge threshold.
  • Simply set the number of cells and the controller will automatically use the proper cutoff voltage.

Programmable Digital Fuse
  • Current monitoring with overcurrent cutoff (self-resetting) renders physical fuses unnecessary.
  • Adjustable cutoff threshold from 20-60A to prevent the battery from exceeding its rated output.

Cycle Completion
  • Gearbox will always complete the current shot cycle regardless of when the trigger is released.
  • Keeps the piston properly reset to minimize gearbox stress and provide more consistent startup cycles.
  • Replaces the cutoff lever mechanism entirely, eliminating the biggest source of trigger jams in AEGs.

Full-Config Fire Select
  • All 3 selector positions can be individually configured to provide 700+ unique combinations.
  • 9 available fire modes for each selector position:
    • Safe
    • Semi fire
    • Auto fire
    • Burst fire (full)
    • Burst fire (interrupt)
    • Burst / auto hybrid (full)
    • Burst / auto hybrid (interrupt)
    • Semi / auto hybrid
    • Semi / auto ramping
  • Burst mode supports 2-10rnd bursts and can be individually configured for each selector position.
  • Burst (full) will continue firing remaining rounds regardless if the trigger is released early.
  • Burst (interrupt) will immediately cease firing remaining rounds if the trigger is released early.
  • Hybrid mode fires in burst (or semi) then transitions to full auto if the trigger remains held down.
  • Hybrid mode transition delay is adjustable, ranging from immediate up to a one second delay.
  • Ramping fires in semi and transitions to full auto on rapid trigger taps (5 taps/sec activation).

Hardwire Semi-Only Lock
  • Semi-only can be hardwired via a solder jumper on the board to provide a semi-permanent lock.
  • Conforms to laws or field rules that forbid AEGs with readily accessible means of bypassing semi-only.

Rate-of-Fire Control
  • All three selector positions can be individually configured for different fire rates.
  • Each cycle runs at full speed but adds a user-defined pause between shots to reduce RoF.
  • This delay-based method preserves the original feel and sound of the gearbox cycles.

Piston Precocking
  • All three selector positions can be individually configured for different precock timings.
  • Precocking stops the piston in a compressed state so the next shot can be fired more instantaneously.
  • Adjustable precock duration of 5-70ms to precisely control the holding position of the piston.
  • Improves trigger responsiveness for DMR and low RoF builds. Compatible with short-stroked pistons.

Sniper Trigger Delay
  • All three selector positions can be individually configured for different delay durations.
  • When firing ceases or the trigger is released, further trigger pulls are ignored for a short duration.
  • Adjustable duration up to 1 second to limit firing rate for gameplay scenarios or sniper builds.
  • Low durations (milliseconds) can help prevent accidental bump-firing when using a feather trigger.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my gearbox require modifications to install the Spectre?

All gearboxes that adhere to the TM gearbox specs will be able to install the Spectre with no modifications required.

If minor modifications are needed, doing so will NOT void the warranty so long as the modification itself is not the cause of any loss of functionality.

Can the Spectre be front‑wired instead of rear‑wired?

The rear‑wired Spectre can be rerouted towards the front with no modifications required. The rerouting will result in uneven wire lengths but any excess wiring can simply be coiled up to preserve the option of reverting back to rear‑wiring.

Lengthening or trimming the wires will NOT void the warranty so long as soldering is limited to the wires and not the FET chips. Attempting to solder directly to the FET chips without the proper equipment poses a risk of heat damage and improper mixing of solder compositions.

Can the Spectre use a Tamiya plug instead of Deans Ultra?

A Deans‑Tamiya adapter is included with the Spectre to support both commonly used battery plugs right out of the box.

If working on a build that has limited space, soldering your own plug will NOT void the warranty so long as the plug is properly soldered in the correct polarity.

Why use mPPE insulated wires instead of PVC, silicone, or teflon?

Silicone PVC Teflon mPPE
 Durability LOW LOW HIGH MED
 Diameter LARGE MED SMALL SMALL
 Flexibility HIGH MED LOW MED

Durability: mPPE insulation provides greater abrasion resistance than PVC and silicone, and are therefore less likely to be accidentally torn during installation.

Diameter: mPPE wires are as thin as teflon wires, which allows the included 16‑AWG mPPE wires to fit in gearboxes designed for the lower capacity 18‑AWG PVC wires.

Flexibility: Teflon wires are extremely stiff which can be inconvenient when attaching or removing batteries, whereas mPPE wires retain the same flexibility of PVC wires and thus remain easy to work with.
