Over-Engineered Hardware
  • Fully computerized with dual hi-speed ARM & PIC microprocessors to support extreme fire rates.
  • Optical-mechanical hybrid provides the best of both worlds: durable optics and crisp tactile trigger pulls.
  • Overcurrent, low-voltage, and temperature monitoring protects the controller and connected battery.
  • Massive TVS diodes suppress up to 9000W of inductive motor spikes which typically destroys other FETs.
  • Multiple internal layers of heavy copper traces for greatly increased current handling and thermal capacity.
  • Uses 16-AWG mPPE wires for thinner size and superior abrasion resistance compared to typical PVC wires.
  • Custom-made board-to-board connectors that are virtually indestructable under heavy shock and vibrations.
  • Mil-spec conformal coating shelters sensitive components from moisture, grease, and static discharge.
  • Settings programmed via trigger inputs, Bluetooth, or USB. All fully integrated, no seperate modules.
  • Memory wear-leveling algorithm allows the controller settings to be reprogrammed millions of times.
  • Ultra-low battery drain during sleep mode preserves battery charge if left connected during storage.
  • Readily convertable to front-wiring with no modifications, providing a versatile 2-in-1 wiring solution.

Wireless Bluetooth Interface
  • Quickest and most convenient method of programming, requiring just a smartphone and the BTC app.
  • Reprogram AEGs on the field in seconds, no need for complex trigger inputs or attaching other devices.
  • Password lock and shortened signal range helps deter unauthorized access attempts to the controller.
  • Stored passwords are secured using SHA-256 hashing and countermeasures to prevent brute-forcing.
  • No pairing necessary between the device and smartphone, can be accessed instantly from within the app.
  • Bluetooth can be switched off to limit programming options to only trigger inputs or USB connection.
  • Fully certified by the FCC (USA), IC (Canada), CE (Europe), and 日本電波法 (Japan).

Essential App for Tuning
  • App can serve as a "wireless multimeter" to display battery voltage, current draw, and FET temperature.
  • Displays timing of shot cycles and RoF to assist with fine-tuning AEGs to desired performance.
  • Records number of shots on each trigger pull and the total number of shots since battery connection.
  • Diagnostic functions display in real-time which sensors are engaged and a log of previous errors.
  • Error detection includes low-voltage, overcurrent, over-temp, cycle error, precock error, and no motor.
  • Optical calibration to adjust the sensors across a wide range of gearbox dimensional tolerances.
  • Save and load up to 10 profiles to conveniently swap between settings or transfer them to other AEGs.
  • Can rename controllers to help identify AEGs. Given aliases are only visible to the assigning device.

MOSFET Switching
  • Solid-state motor switching eliminates the damaging electrical arcs associated with contact switches.
  • Lower resistance compared to the default contact switch, thereby increasing electrical efficiency.
  • Driven by dual N-MOSFETs with a combined rating of 750A startup current and 0.35mΩ resistance.

Motor Active Braking
  • All 3 selector positions (5 if modded) can be individually configured for different braking intensity.
  • Entire range of programmable values from 0% to 100% for precision control of braking strength.
  • Reduces the motor spin-down time during cutoff to help minimize over-traveling of the piston.
  • Prevents double-firing issues that may occur due to excessive over-travel on high speed setups.
  • Smart thermal throttling helps control heat buildup during quick sustained bursts of fire.
  • Driven by dual N-MOSFETs with a combined rating of 750A startup current and 0.35mΩ resistance.

LiPo / LiFePO4 Protection
  • Monitors LiPo and LiFePO4 batteries to cut off power when nearing the overdischarge threshold.
  • Option for auto-detection of LiPo cells to skip having to reprogram when swapping LiPo voltages.
  • Can manually enter any custom cutoff from 5.5-16V to monitor virtually any type of battery.

Programmable Digital Fuse
  • Current monitoring with overcurrent cutoff (self-resetting) renders physical fuses unnecessary.
  • Can manually enter any custom cutoff from 20-60A to prevent exceeding the battery's rated output.

Cycle Completion (Optical)
  • Gearbox will always complete the current shot cycle regardless of when the trigger is released.
  • Keeps the piston properly reset to minimize gearbox stress and provide more consistent startup cycles.
  • Optical gear sensor provides maximum durability and is positioned to shelter it from grease splatter.
  • Detects cycles via the gear cam instead of teeth counting, allowing it to support much higher RoFs.
  • Replaces the cutoff lever mechanism entirely, eliminating the biggest source of trigger jams in AEGs.
  • Can be disabled and set for manual timing in the rare case of incompatibility with off-spec gearboxes.

Full-Config Fire Select
  • All 3 selector positions can be individually configured to provide 1700+ unique combinations.
  • Expandable to 5 selector positions by using mod port add-ons for 240000+ unique combinations.
  • 12 fire modes available for each selector position:
    • Safe (also decocks)
    • Semi fire
    • Auto fire
    • Burst fire (full)
    • Burst fire (interrupt)
    • Burst / auto hybrid (full)
    • Burst / auto hybrid (interrupt)
    • Semi / auto hybrid
    • Semi / auto ramping
    • Binary trigger
    • Auto shotgun
    • Rev-up auto
  • Burst mode supports 2-100rnd bursts and can be individually configured for each selector position.
  • Burst (full) will continue firing remaining rounds regardless if the trigger is released early.
  • Burst (interrupt) will immediately cease firing remaining rounds if the trigger is released early.
  • Hybrid mode fires in burst (or semi) then transitions to full auto if the trigger remains held down.
  • Hybrid mode transition delay is adjustable, ranging from immediate up to a one second delay.
  • Hybrid mode includes dual-stage RoF control, allowing both stages to have different fire rates.
  • Ramping fires in semi and transitions to full auto on rapid trigger taps. Adjustable taps/sec threshold.
  • Binary trigger fires a shot on trigger pull and another on release. Can hold to cancel release shot.
  • Auto shotgun fires repeating bursts, each simulating a shotgun shell. Adjustable burst interval.
  • Rev-up auto starts at a slow fire rate and accelerates with each shot. Adjustable acceleration.

Hardwire Semi-Only Lock
  • Semi-only can be hardwired via a solder jumper on the board to provide a semi-permanent lock.
  • Conforms to laws or field rules that forbid AEGs with readily accessible means of bypassing semi-only.

Trigger Input Buffering
  • All 3 selector positions (5 if modded) can be individually configured for different buffer options.
  • Allows additional trigger pulls in the middle of a shot cycle to automatically queue the next shot cycle.
  • Provides a smoother operation by eliminating stutters between cycles during rapid trigger taps.

Advanced RoF Controls
  • All 3 selector positions (5 if modded) can be individually configured for different fire rates.
  • Dual-stage RoF when used with hybrid fire modes, allowing both stages to have different fire rates.
  • Includes every known fire rate reduction algorithm: PWM-based, delay-based, and adaptive RoF.
  • PWM method rapidly switches the motor on/off at a high frequency to slow the entirety of the cycle.
  • PWM method intelligently runs the first cycle at full speed so every initial shot is fired immediately.
  • Delay method runs cycles at full speed but adds a user-defined pause between shots to reduce RoF.
  • Adaptive method takes a user-defined rnd/sec and auto-calculates the necessary pauses between shots.
  • Delay and adaptive methods both preserve the original feel and sound of the gearbox cycles.

Piston Precocking
  • All 3 selector positions (5 if modded) can be individually configured for different precock timings.
  • Precocking stops the piston in a compressed state so the next shot can be fired more instantaneously.
  • Adjustable precock duration of 5-500ms to precisely control the holding position of the piston.
  • Improves trigger responsiveness for DMR and low RoF builds. Compatible with short-stroked pistons.
  • Can be decocked prior to storage by switching the selector to SAFE and holding down the trigger.

Sniper Trigger Delay
  • All 3 selector positions (5 if modded) can be individually configured for different delay durations.
  • When firing ceases or the trigger is released, further trigger pulls are ignored for a short duration.
  • Adjustable duration up to 5 seconds to limit firing rate for gameplay scenarios or sniper builds.
  • Low durations (milliseconds) can help prevent accidental bump-firing when using a feather trigger.

Virtual Magazine
  • Simulated mag capacity and reload time improves realism for AEGs that lack empty-mag detection.
  • Optional low ammo warning will audibly notify the user when the virtual magazine is nearly empty.
  • Magazine capacity, low ammo threshold, and reload time settings are all fully programmable.
  • The reload time can be overridden by attaching a physical reload sensor to any of the mod ports.
  • Using a physical reload sensor allows the virtual magazine to be conveniently refilled at any time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my gearbox require modifications to install the Spectre?

All gearboxes that adhere to the TM gearbox specs will be able to install the Spectre with no modifications required. The Mk3 has been specifically designed with additional tolerances to support the minor differences between gearbox brands, and will continue to adapt its dimensions over time to support any reported incompatibilities if possible. Propriety gearboxes with a microswitch trigger are not compatible with the Spectre.

If minor modifications are needed, doing so will NOT void the lifetime warranty so long as the modification itself is not the cause of any loss of functionality.

Can the Spectre be front‑wired instead of rear‑wired?

The rear‑wired Spectre can be rerouted towards the front with no modifications required. The rerouting will result in uneven wire lengths but any excess wiring can simply be coiled up to preserve the option of reverting back to rear-wiring.

Lengthening or trimming the wires will NOT void the lifetime warranty so long as soldering is limited to the wires and not the FET chips. Attempting to solder directly to the FET chips without the proper equipment poses a risk of heat damage and improper mixing of solder compositions.

Can the Spectre use a Tamiya plug instead of Deans Ultra?

A Deans‑Tamiya adapter is included with the Spectre to support both commonly used battery plugs right out of the box.

If working on a build that has limited space, soldering your own plug will NOT void the lifetime warranty so long as the plug is properly soldered in the correct polarity.

Why use mPPE insulated wires instead of PVC, silicone, or teflon?

Silicone PVC Teflon mPPE
 Durability LOW LOW HIGH MED
 Diameter LARGE MED SMALL SMALL
 Flexibility HIGH MED LOW MED

Durability: mPPE insulation provides greater abrasion resistance than PVC and silicone, and are therefore less likely to be accidentally torn during installation.

Diameter: mPPE wires are as thin as teflon wires, which allows the included 16‑AWG mPPE wires to fit in gearboxes designed for the lower capacity 18‑AWG PVC wires.

Flexibility: Teflon wires are extremely stiff which can be inconvenient when attaching or removing batteries, whereas mPPE wires retain the same flexibility of PVC wires and thus remain easy to work with.
